A sense of a change in era was illustrated in the poem as the poem starts off at morning and then suddenly midnight has come in from foreign places. The mention of midnight and foreign places ma de me feel as though the poet was describing! some sort of evil in the streets of New York, as midnight is dark and I felt as though it hazard tooth give the sense of evil which is normally dark and creepy.
